Power and Performance of the 2023 Subaru Outback

The 2023 Subaru Outback has two engine options. Both send power to the automaker’s symmetrical all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring, vehicle dynamics control, and X-MODE with hill descent control.

The standard powertrain is a 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer gasoline engine that makes 182 horsepower at 5,800 RPM and 176 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 RPM.

Higher trim levels use a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer gasoline engine with 260 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and 277 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 RPM.

All trim levels use a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with an eight-speed manual mode activated by using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
